Thanks to Education Portal and some research of my own, I am able to present a small list of free technology courses. eLearning is the wave of the future, what better way is there to experience it for yourself than for free? All you need is a little bit of time and a descent internet connection to learn about the following:

• Principles of Computing Systems
• Computer Graphics
• Internet Technology
• Operating Systems
• Beginning Web Design
• Linux 101
• Email Basics

If you are interested in a more in-depth technology learning program, I highly recommend Western Governors University. Western Governors University is a non-profit online university. When I was looking up rates for various eLearning options, WGU had by far the most affordable programs available. On top of that, they are heavily accredited and well respect by employers.

With the rapid expansion of online learning over the past five years, and the computer literacy of children today, it would not at all surprise me to see most successful colleges and universities embracing online learning for most of their instruction within fifteen years. As that happens, we should hope to see more free programs available to the general public and to those who otherwise could not afford to benefit from them.
